Bereavement Support Groups

The Facing the Future service has been developed by Samaritans and Cruse Bereavement Care to help support people who have been bereaved by suicide.

Facing the Future support groups will give you the opportunity to meet others who have lost someone to suicide and share your experiences and feelings. Each support group is run by two trained volunteer facilitators from Samaritans and Cruse Bereavement Care and the groups run once a week over six consecutive weeks, with each session lasting for 90 minutes. There are a minimum of five and a maximum of eight participants in each group and sessions are free of charge.

Supporting those isolated by bereavement

Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide exist to meet the needs and break the isolation experienced by those bereaved by suicide. We are a self-help organisation and we aim to provide a safe, confidential environment in which bereaved people can share their experiences and feelings, so giving and gaining support from each other.

The charity for bereaved children

Offering support to young people who have experienced bereavement.

Our Freephone Helpline is a UK-wide national helpline offering support, information and guidance to all those caring for a child or young person who has been bereaved. It is staffed by people with extensive experience, who have up-to-date knowledge of supporting bereaved children and their families.

Support following a suicide

Local resource - only available in the following areas: St. Helens, Knowsley, Wirral, Sefton, Warrington, Halton, Chester, Cheshire East. AND, East & West Suffolk, Ipswich, Barnsley, Rotherham, Blackburn with Darwen, Burnley and Hynburn

AMPARO offers support following a suicide in a range of ways, including:

- One to one individual emotional and practical support

- Help with any media enquiries you may receive

- Practical support when dealing with the Police or Coroner

- Help overcoming feelings of isolation

- Putting you in touch with local services that can help

AMPARO can support anyone affected by a suspected or actual suicide. This can be family members, friends or colleagues.

AMPARO means 'shelter' or 'safe haven' in the Spanish language and offers a discreet and completely confidential service. We can also support communities, schools and workplaces in the event of a suspected or actual suicide.
