We are a small team at Grassroots and we wanted to share with you the people and personalities behind the roles and share with you what the best things are about working for Grassroots and a few other choice questions. Here in our series of team blogs we have training co ordinating all round legend Celia…
Celia Mae Jones
Role at Grassroots:
Charity Officer working to coordinate our suicide prevention training and support development of the Stay Alive App.
What is the best thing about working at an organisation like this.
It’s a joy to be a part of such a close-knit, supportive team. Knowing that we’re small but make such a big difference, to me, really demonstrates the power of our community.
Which project has given you most enjoyment? Or are you most proud of?
I’m really proud to lead the coordination of our training delivery – it’s hugely rewarding to work with so many great organisations, some of whom are taking a massive step providing this training for their team. To see the positive feedback come back and to learn about how the skills are being used really brings it all home
What are you looking forward to in the year ahead?
It’s a really exciting year for our StayAlive app and I can’t wait to see it go from strength to strength!
What will you take and keep from lockdown?
Getting to know my neighbours. I’ve also finally had the time to get into wrestling (watching – not taking part!), which has been a huge source of fun and excitement during the dark moments. AND we were blessed with a new feline companion at the start of lockdown. Even though he’s not very nice to me, I hope Tony sticks around.
And what will you gladly leave in lockdown?
The same four walks that I can do before work.
How do you relax?
Tending to my garden, afternoon-long boardgame sessions, pestering my cat and cooking.
Favourite sandwich filling?
Can’t beat a vegan BLT. Switch the bacon out for smoked tempeh!
